2018 INTERNATIONAL AWARDS

International Awards 2018At Oterrum we are very happy and proud of the awards received this year 2018 for our reference Oterrum Dominus (INTENSE) in the following International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competitions:

  • London International Olive Oil Competition held in London (United Kingdom), in which we won a gold medal.
  • Olive Japan held in Tokyo (Japan), where we won a gold medal and special distinction from The Olive Oil Sommelier Association of Japan.
  • New York International Olive Oil Competition held in New York (USA), in which we won a silver medal.
  • EVO International Olive Oil Contest held in Salerno (Italy), where we won a gold medal.

Guide Flos Olei 2019 held in Rome (Italy), in which we obtained 88/100 points and therefore we are among the best 500 extra virgin olive oils in the world.

 

 

We are very grateful that expert international tasters recognize the high quality of our Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL IN ALICANTE

Oterrum Extra Virgin Olive Oil

And never better. Oterrum is an extra virgin olive oil of HIGH ALTITUDE in the mountain area of the province of Alicante.

According to a scientific study carried out in which the researcher Isabel Seiquer, from Granada, has participated, the higher the altitude of the olive groves the extra virgin olive oil they produce is more beneficial for health due to the high amount of CoQ10 tocopherols and phenolic compounds it contains.

This research study was carried out from the extraction of olive oil from the arbequina variety grown in different areas of Spain and Brazil to know its proportion of chemical components. The results determined that in the Granada area where part of the Spanish samples were collected they had a higher concentration of CoQ10 with a high altitude and lower precipitation rate.

According to the Olive Oil Times, researcher Isabel Seiquer states,"There was a significant influence of climatic and geographical parameters of the production areas on the composition of the oils". We found that there was a significant influence of climatic and geographical parameters of the production areas on the composition of the oils " " Positive altitude relationships were observed with the level of CoQ10, tocopherols and phenolics of the oils. There were also negative correlations with rainfall. "These findings support that EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) is one of the best natural sources of C0Q10 in the diet."

Spain is a country with a long tradition in the cultivation of olive trees and extraction of extra virgin olive oil and the cultivation of the Arbequina variety is widespread in our country.

Our extra virgin olive oil is extracted from our olive field located between the natural parks of Font Roja and Sierra de Mariola in an area of the mountains of Alicante at 1035 meters above sea level.
